Did you have a great experience with a vet? A not so great one? Tell everyone about it! Be respectful (NO slander!).

Dr. Graham is amazing. Initially I saw her on Wednesday for my hamster's abscessed paw. She and her technician were so gentle, did not speak to me as if I was an idiot, and treated Hamsterella very well. Dr. Graham is also double board certified in both Avian and Exotic medicine, which is extremely rare. Then on Thursday PM/Friday AM she examined Julian and his shredded tail and was quite candid about the risks of amputation, the aftercare involved, and the behavior she has seen in some mice who continue to tear at their wounds after surgery. She supported my decision to euthanize without making me feel like a bad owner.

I was very happy with Dr. Graham's treatment of my littles and would recommend her to anyone in the greater Boston area. Yes Angell is expensive, but Dr. Graham's care is top-notch. I'm so glad I have a vet I can rely on for my mice and hamsters...I would recommend Dr. Graham to anyone with an exotic.

Edited to add: a regular exotics appointment fee was $110, emergency fee was $130, first time pet registration fee is $11. Hamsterella's meds were $8.25. Julian's euthanasia was free. Maybe it's living in such an expensive city, but the costs are not out of line for me (bless you, credit card). I'm sure anywhere outside of NYC or California, the costs would be prohibitive or at least more shocking, but as long as I can afford it I'll keep using Dr. Graham.

I am hust "below" Rte 128, in Needham, MA, and visit the Highland Animal Hospital,
namely, Dr Geffrey Jiles. I was going to post "on my own", and will do it right now.
My point in this reply is that I pay less than a half for a visit, $56. And sometimes
I bring along 2 or even 3 mice, just in case, and do not pay more. Medicine cost depends
on the medicine itself.

I'm still quite happy with the quality of care and the service I received. Knowing that I have a 24-hour emergency hospital with an exotics vet on call at all times, plus the equipment necessary to deal with mice and other littles, within 15 minutes of my house, is worth the price to me. That might change if I lose my income, but as someone who also works at a vet clinic one day a week, I know that there is a bit of truth to the statement that, at some point, good medicine does cost more (surgery, specialty procedures, sheer experience, etc). It's great to know about your vet and I will keep them in mind as a backup, thank you for the information.
